Introduced in 1936 this variant was constructed from 2 parts, followed in 1939 by a single piece model (stamped metallic stars appeared in 1941, painted red or green).
Taken as a war trophy during the campaign on the eastern front by a German soldier, such items also proved popular souvenirs with US troops after the war.
